Stakeholder Analyses

Schulung Max Klose DIALOG BASIS

Stakeholder or actor analyses are a tool developed in political science for collecting and structuring important background information on players involved in decision-making or dialogue processes; on their values, needs, goals and communication patterns.

In its stakeholder analyses DIALOG BASIS combines desk research with anonymised, qualitative in-depth interviews of different stakeholder groups. Interviews of dialogue participants are often used as a starting point of longer dialogue processes. Qualitative interviews allow us to structure central questions, issues and goals and 'feed' these back to the participants so that the process of information collection remains transparent.

DIALOG BASIS illustrates stakeholder analyses by constructing actor maps (netscaping), where stakeholders and their connections are pictured. Actor maps constitute a helpful tool in presenting complex relations, positions and goals of different stakeholders. Antje Grobe has further developed the actor map methodic at the University of Stuttgart and used it in different stakeholder analyses and in-depth interview series.
